Brand sentiment analysis

What it is
Brand sentiment analysis reads how your company is described and labels the tone. In the AI search context, that means looking at the answers that assistants such as ChatGPT or Perplexity give when asked about your category, and showing whether you are recommended, criticised or mentioned in passing. For example, a tool such as Peec AI or Profound may show that answers praise your product for ease of use but mention slow support.
Why it matters
Being mentioned is not the same as being recommended. A brand that appears often but with negative framing can lose deals without anyone noticing. Sentiment helps marketers and founders spot reputation problems early and see which claims on their own site or in reviews shape the way AI tools describe them. It matters most in crowded categories where buyers ask an assistant for a shortlist. If you have very little online presence, there is little sentiment to measure yet.
What to check
- How is sentiment scored, and can you read the actual passages behind each score.
- Does it cover the AI engines and sources your buyers actually use.
- Can you filter by topic, so you can see sentiment about pricing separately from support.
- How does it handle mixed or sarcastic wording, and can you correct a wrong label.
