Profound
Why Profound
Profound is an AI search visibility platform that tracks how answer engines such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity describe a brand, then suggests and drafts content changes to improve that answer. It also monitors share of voice against competitors, brand sentiment and misinformation. It suits marketing, content and PR teams running answer engine optimisation alongside classic search engine optimisation, including enterprise brands and their agencies.
What it does
Profound is an AI search visibility platform. It tracks how answer engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek and Google AI Overviews describe your brand and category. It shows which sources those answers cite, what prompts people use, and how AI crawlers read your pages.
It then goes a step further with an AI Marketer, a set of agents that find opportunities, draft or rewrite pages, and stage them in your CMS for approval.
Why you would need it
More buyers ask an AI assistant for a shortlist before they ever open a search result. If the assistant describes your product wrongly, or never mentions it, you lose deals you never see. Classic rank tracking does not show that.
You feel the pain when someone on the sales team says a prospect heard something odd about you from an AI. A tool that measures those answers and traces them back to their sources gives you something to act on.
Where it fits
Profound sits beside your SEO tools and analytics and adds the answer engine layer. Its data feeds your content calendar, your PR corrections and your reporting. Its drafts go into your CMS or editorial workflow, where you approve them.
It does not replace a CMS or an SEO suite. Teams comparing similar tools should look at Peec AI, Otterly.AI, Scrunch AI, Ahrefs Brand Radar and the Semrush AI Toolkit.
What stands out
- Coverage of the main answer engines. The vendor lists seven AI search platforms on its homepage.
- Agent analytics. It shows how AI bots crawl and cite your pages, using integrations with CDNs such as Cloudflare, Akamai, Fastly and Vercel.
- An AI Marketer with approvals. Agents draft content and stage it. Nothing goes live without you.
- API and a hosted MCP server. Both give access to visibility, sentiment, citation and shopping reports.
My take
The category is young, so treat the numbers as a view of how AI answers behave for the prompts you track, not as a ranking. That does not make it useless. It is the only way to see the problem at all.
Profound looks built for large brands. The pricing page offers a free trial and then a custom Enterprise plan, with no published list price. If you are a small team on a fixed budget, you will want a lighter tool first.
Verdict
Pick Profound when you are an established brand that needs to know how AI assistants describe you and wants help fixing it. Skip it if you are a small team that needs a published price, or if you just want a quick check of a few prompts.
Notes
Your note
Before you choose
Pricing is by quote
After the free trial, the only plan on the pricing page is a custom Enterprise plan. Budgeting needs a sales conversation.

The trial is a narrow test
The trial runs for seven days with a daily prompt limit, and covers only a few answer engines. The Enterprise plan adds up to nine. Use the trial on your most important prompts.
Measurement is still young
Answers vary between runs and between engines. Use trends over time, not single results, and keep your classic SEO reporting next to it.
