Semrush AI Toolkit
Why Semrush AI Toolkit
Semrush AI Toolkit monitors how your brand appears in AI-generated answers across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI Mode, reporting share of voice against competitors and brand sentiment. Built for content and marketing teams already using Semrush for organic search, it adds AI visibility reporting to the same dashboard. It audits your site for AI readiness and researches which prompts matter most for your brand.
What it does
The Semrush AI Toolkit, now sold as the AI Visibility Toolkit, tracks how your brand is mentioned in answers from ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity. You choose a set of prompts, and it reports your visibility against competitors, with daily AI rankings for your custom prompts.
It also does prompt research to find the questions worth tracking, and a site audit that scores how ready your pages are for AI crawlers. Reports refresh daily, weekly or monthly.
Why you would need it
More buyer research now happens inside an AI assistant. You can have strong rankings in classic search and still be missing from the answers that shape a shortlist. Your analytics will not show that, because nothing was clicked.
This toolkit turns that blind spot into numbers. You see which prompts mention you, which competitors are named and how that moves over time. If you are asked in a meeting how you show up in ChatGPT, you will have something to show.
Where it fits
The toolkit belongs to the Semrush family, so it shares the login and domain setup with its SEO tools. It sits beside keyword and backlink data and adds the AI answer layer. It does not replace your CMS or your analytics.
It competes with specialist trackers in the library: Scrunch AI, Ahrefs Brand Radar, Otterly.AI, Peec AI and Profound.
What stands out
- The four main AI engines. Mentions from ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity are tracked in one report.
- Prompt research. It helps you find the prompts people actually use, so you do not guess what to track.
- AI readiness audit. A site audit scores pages for AI crawlers and gives you a concrete fix list.
- Daily rankings on custom prompts. You get a steady series, not a one-off snapshot.
My take
This is a sensible choice if you already live in Semrush. The data sits next to the keyword work you do anyway, and you avoid a new vendor. The base set of tracked prompts is narrow, so decide early which prompts matter most.
As with all AI visibility tools, I'd read the numbers as a direction. Answers change between runs. A tool that shows you the trend and the gaps is useful, as long as nobody promises a client a fixed position.
Verdict
Pick the AI Toolkit when your team already works in Semrush and wants AI answer tracking in the same place. Skip it when you have no use for Semrush's SEO side, in which case a specialist tracker may fit better, or when you only want a one-time look.
Notes
Your note
Before you choose
Prompt limits on the base plan
The base plan covers one domain and a fixed number of custom prompts. A brand with several products or markets can fill that quickly. List the prompts you need before you buy.

Add-ons are separate
Extra users, lead generation and report packs are sold as add-ons. Ask for the full setup you will run, with users and reports included, so the comparison with specialists is fair.
Check the link to your Semrush plan
The toolkit has its own pricing page, and the API and MCP belong to the wider Semrush platform. Confirm with Semrush which plan you need for each part before you commit.
Specialists may go deeper
Tools such as Scrunch AI and Profound focus only on AI visibility and may offer more depth, such as agent traffic or enterprise reporting. Compare on your own prompts.
