Close
Why Close
Close integrates calling, SMS, and email directly into a sales CRM, eliminating context-switching between tools. It offers automated lead routing, customizable pipelines, and detailed activity logs for sales reps and operations. It fits inside-sales teams and SMBs running high-volume outbound who want communication and CRM in one platform.
What it does
Close is a CRM built around outbound selling. Calling, SMS and email happen inside the CRM, so a rep calls a lead, sends a follow-up and logs the result without switching tools. Calls get transcripts and summaries with action items.
Around that you get pipelines, sequences and workflows for follow-up, lead routing for inbound leads, and an AI teammate called Chloe that handles tasks such as qualifying leads and booking meetings.
Why you would need it
In many sales teams the real work happens in a phone app, a separate email tool and a spreadsheet, and the CRM gets updated later, if at all. Reps lose context and managers see half the picture.
If your reps make dozens of calls and emails a day, that gap costs you deals. You feel it when a lead replies and nobody knows what was said on the last call.
Where it fits
Close is the system of record for the sales team. Leads come in from forms, data tools such as Clay or your own lists. Close does the outreach and tracks the deals. Meetings book through tools such as Calendly, and call analysis can go to Gong.
It replaces a CRM plus a separate dialler plus a basic sequencing tool.
What stands out
- A built-in dialler with automatic call transcription and summaries.
- Calling, SMS and email in one timeline per lead.
- Sequences and workflows for follow-up, plus lead routing.
- A REST API, webhooks and an official hosted MCP server.
Who gets the most from it
Close fits a team where every rep makes calls and sends emails all day, such as inside sales, lead generation and outbound agencies. The more of the day a rep spends in the dialler and inbox, the more the single timeline pays off. A team that sells through long, relationship-heavy deals with few touches will use less of it.
My take
I like a CRM that is built for one job. Close does outbound well and does not pretend to be a marketing suite. If your team lives on the phone and in the inbox, it removes real friction.
If marketing automation, a content hub or support sits in the same tool for you, HubSpot is the broader choice. I'd also look at Pipedrive for a lighter pipeline-first CRM.
Verdict
Pick Close when your reps sell by phone and email and you want calling built in. Skip it when you need a full marketing and service suite, or when your sales motion is mostly inbound and slow.

Notes
Your note
Before you choose
Calling and SMS cost extra
Calls and texts are billed separately from the seat price. If your team calls a lot, price the call volume in the countries you dial before you compare plans.

No free plan
There is a 14-day free trial with no card needed, and no free plan. Test the dialler with your real reps and phone numbers.
Narrow by design
Close focuses on sales. Marketing automation, a website builder or a help desk are not the point. If you want them in one tool, compare HubSpot.
Alternatives to compare
Pipedrive, HubSpot and Freshsales all cover the CRM side. Compare how each handles calling inside the product.
