Zoom Webinars
Why Zoom Webinars
Zoom Webinars is a broadcast platform inside Zoom for hosting live presentations, town halls and large-scale online events, separate from the standard meeting product. It suits marketing teams running lead-generation webinars, enterprises hosting company-wide announcements and town halls, and event organisers needing to reach very large audiences at scale.
What it does
Zoom Webinars is the broadcast side of Zoom. One or a few presenters speak to a large audience, and attendees watch, vote in polls and ask questions. It is separate from the normal Zoom meeting product.
It offers chat, polls, Q&A and recordings, a Production Studio for layouts and scene switching, Simulive for pre-recorded content delivered as a live event, and branded registration pages. Higher tiers add multi-stage events, networking and a sponsor expo.
Why you would need it
A normal meeting breaks down at scale. Everyone can speak, you cannot control the screen, and you have no registration data. A webinar gives you control and tells you who signed up and who attended.
For a marketing team, that attendee list is the point. It becomes follow-up leads, and the recording becomes content you can reuse.
Where it fits
It sits beside your existing Zoom meetings as the add-on for large broadcasts. Registration data moves into your CRM or marketing automation. For a team already standardised on Zoom, it can replace a separate webinar tool.
What stands out
- A high attendee ceiling for large broadcasts, with the tier deciding the exact capacity.
- Production Studio for custom layouts without a crew.
- Simulive for pre-recorded sessions that run as live events.
- AI-generated chapters, highlights and social clips from your recordings.
What to plan around it
Treat the webinar as a small project. Set the registration page, the reminder emails and the follow-up before the date. After the session, send the recording to those who missed it and use the clips on social.
The tool gives you the stage and the data. The result still depends on a clear topic and a follow-up that sales actually acts on.
My take
I would pick Zoom Webinars when the team already uses Zoom every day and the audience knows it. Your hosts already know the interface, and there is no second tool to learn.
I would compare it first if webinars are a core marketing channel and not an occasional event. Dedicated platforms such as Livestorm, BigMarker and Demio are built around webinars from the start. Production Studio and advanced layouts also need some setup to use well.
Verdict
Pick Zoom Webinars if you are standardised on Zoom and need large broadcasts. Skip it if you are not otherwise on Zoom or need tight in-person and hybrid integration. Compare an events platform then.
Notes
Your note
Before you choose
Capacity depends on the tier
The page mentions up to 100,000 attendees, but the capacity of the entry tier is not clear from what I could read. Zoom also sells larger attendee tiers and a pay-per-attendee option. Confirm the limit for your audience size with Zoom.

It is an add-on
Zoom Webinars is priced per host on top of a Zoom licence, so it raises the total cost. Check whether your base licence is required before you budget.
Higher tiers hold the event features
Multi-stage events, ticketing, networking and sponsor features need the Events tier. Simulive and AI event pages come with Webinars Plus. Pick the tier by the features you will use.
Compare dedicated platforms
Look at Livestorm, BigMarker, Demio, GoTo Webinar, eWebinar and Webex Events. Some are built for marketing webinars and evergreen sessions, which matters if you run them often.
