Typeform

Builds conversational forms and surveys that present one question at a time on screen.

Why Typeform

Creates interactive forms and surveys that ask one question at a time in sequence, improving completion rates. Logic branches let the next question adapt based on previous answers, and respondents can reply using video or audio. Suits lead capture, onboarding, feedback and customer research where user experience matters.

Best for
Marketing, product, HR and research teams that care about completion rates, and use forms for lead capture, onboarding, feedback or customer research where the experience matters.

What it does

Typeform builds forms and surveys that show one question at a time, like a conversation. Logic changes the next question based on earlier answers, and respondents can answer with text, choices, video or audio. You can also build quizzes, applications and short lead-capture forms from templates, or describe a form and let AI draft it.

Paid products go further. Growth Flow adds lead enrichment, segmentation and follow-ups after a form is sent, and Research Flow runs AI-moderated studies.

Why you would need it

You feel the need when a form is a key step and people drop out. Long, flat forms feel like paperwork, and the lead or the answer you wanted never arrives. A form that feels like a conversation tends to get more people to the end, and the vendor claims it roughly doubles completion against traditional forms.

It matters most when the answers feed a decision: qualifying a lead, onboarding a customer, or understanding why people churn.

Where it fits

Typeform sits on your website or in emails and passes answers on. It lists integrations with HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack, Airtable, ActiveCampaign, Klaviyo, Intercom, Calendly, Stripe, Webflow and Zapier.

It replaces the basic forms in a CRM or website builder when completion rate and experience matter. It does not replace a full survey research suite.

What stands out

  • One question at a time with conditional logic.
  • Video and audio answers, plus AI follow-up questions that adapt as people reply.
  • Growth Flow lets a form take payments, schedule meetings and collect e-signatures, so a lead can close inside the form.
  • Analytics include drop-off tracking and topic and sentiment analysis of answers.
  • A developer platform with Create, Responses and Webhooks APIs and an official MCP server.

My take

I would use Typeform where the form carries real weight in the funnel, such as a demo request, an application or an onboarding questionnaire. The experience is better than a plain form, and the logic lets you ask less of people who do not need to answer.

I would not use it for everything. A quick internal form or a long, simple list of fields is slower one question at a time, and a free form tool does the job. Treat Typeform as a conversion tool and spend on it where conversion pays back.

Verdict

Pick Typeform if completion rate matters more than cost and the form is a step in your funnel. Skip it if you need a quick internal form, or you collect large volumes of simple responses.

Before you choose

Response limits drive the plan

Plans are built around response and seat limits, and the lower plans have tight response allowances. Estimate how many responses you expect each month before you choose, and what happens when you pass the limit. Cost rises quickly with volume.

Features and AI sit on higher plans

Growth Flow, Research Flow and Talent are separate plan families, and some capabilities, including parts of the MCP server, are gated by plan. If automation or enrichment is your reason to buy, confirm it is on the plan you are looking at.

One question at a time is not for every form

Long forms with many simple fields can feel slow in this format. Match the format to the task, and test completion on your own audience before you move everything over.

Compare the alternatives

Tally, Fillout, Jotform, Google Forms and SurveyMonkey cover the same ground with different pricing models. If the free tier of a simpler tool covers your need, start there.
