How to automate Microsoft 365

API and webhooks

Microsoft Graph is the API for data in Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra: mail, calendar, files, Teams and users. Use it to log meeting notes into your CRM, or to pull a list of shared files into a report. Plan for app registration and permissions in Entra, which is the part that takes time.

MCP server

Microsoft publishes a catalogue of official MCP servers on GitHub, including remote servers for Microsoft 365 Mail, Calendar and Copilot Chat that work through Microsoft Graph. Connect one to Claude or a coding agent and ask for a summary of this week's unanswered client emails. Check your tenant's admin settings, because access depends on your organisation's configuration.

No-code automation

There is no single connector for the whole suite. Look for the specific app you need, such as Outlook, Teams, Excel or SharePoint, in Zapier, Make or n8n, and check which triggers and actions it offers before you plan a flow around it.
