Freshcaller
Why Freshcaller
Freshcaller is a cloud-based phone system that assigns each user a virtual number and displays customer context on incoming calls. It records and transcribes calls automatically and logs summaries to customer records. It is designed for support and sales teams wanting a browser-based phone system, especially those already using Freshworks.
What it does
Freshcaller is a cloud contact centre for voice. Agents take and make calls in the browser, with no desk phones. It covers IVR and inbound call routing, call recordings and post-call transcripts, live dashboards and voice bots for repetitive questions. You can bring your own carrier or buy numbers in more than 90 countries. It is part of Freshworks, so calls connect to Freshdesk, where a call can become a ticket in one click.
Why you would need it
Phone calls are the channel that most often falls outside your records. A customer rings, an agent answers on a mobile or a desk phone, and nothing is logged. Nobody can hear what was said later, and the next agent starts from zero.
Freshcaller moves calls into the same system as your tickets and contacts. You hear the recording, read the transcript and see the history. Managers can watch call volumes and service levels, and coach from real calls.
Where it fits
Freshcaller sits on the voice side of your support stack. It connects to Freshdesk for ticketing and sits beside Freshchat for messaging. It feeds your helpdesk with call logs and recordings. It replaces desk phones, a basic phone provider and manual call notes.
What stands out
- Calls turn into tickets. One click in Freshdesk creates a ticket from a call.
- Recordings and transcripts. You can review what happened without asking the agent.
- Voice bots and speech-enabled IVR. Repetitive questions get answered without an agent.
- Flexible numbers. Bring your own carrier or buy local numbers from the vendor.
My take
I'd pick Freshcaller when you already use Freshdesk and want phone support in the same place. The link between the call and the ticket is the main reason to choose it.
What I'd watch is fit outside the Freshworks family. If you need a phone system mainly for sales calls into a CRM such as HubSpot, look at Aircall or Quo first. Telephony also has local rules, so check number availability and call quality in the countries you serve, and run a pilot with real calls.
Also decide early who listens to recordings. Recording and transcripts are only useful if a manager reviews a sample each week and turns it into coaching. Check the rules on telling callers that a call is recorded before you switch it on.
Verdict
Pick Freshcaller when phone is part of customer support and your tickets live in Freshdesk. Skip it when voice is a minor channel, when your CRM is somewhere else, or when you need a heavily customised call flow.

Plans and trial
There is a free plan and paid plans, charged per agent. The trial lasts 14 days and covers the Enterprise plan. The vendor shows prices billed annually, so check what you pay if you choose monthly billing. Compare what each plan includes for IVR, recording and reporting before you decide.

Telephony takes testing
Call quality depends on your carrier, your network and the country. Test with real calls from the locations your team works in, and check number rules for each country. If you want to keep an existing carrier, confirm that the bring-your-own-carrier option covers it.
Best inside Freshworks
The strongest features link to Freshdesk. If your helpdesk is Zendesk or Help Scout, check how well calls log there before you commit. A different phone tool may fit better.
Compare phone systems
Look at Aircall and Quo for sales-led calling. RingCentral and Twilio are also common options, and Twilio is more technical.
