Totango
Why Totango
Totango is a customer-success platform that tracks product usage and other signals to score account health, flag churn risk and automate retention and expansion workflows. It is designed for B2B SaaS customer-success and account-management teams managing renewals across a portfolio of accounts. The platform encompasses the core Totango success product, the Unison intelligence engine and the Catalyst growth product.
What it does
Totango was a customer success platform, and the company has now renamed itself Odie. Its site says Totango is now Odie, a Customer Knowledge Engine for post-sales teams, while the Totango Customer Success Platform and Catalyst, a customer growth platform, remain listed.
Odie works in four steps. Agents interview your team to capture what your best people know. Daily AI analysis reads your customer data from CRM, usage, emails, calls and meetings. The result is kept as living customer narratives. Your own AI tools then draw on those narratives through an MCP server.
Why you would need it
You feel the problem when the right move for each customer lives in the heads of a few experienced people. A new customer success manager inherits a list of accounts and a health score, but not the reasoning. Renewals slip because nobody saw the signal in time.
A tool like this tries to write that reasoning down and keep it current. That helps once you have enough accounts that no one person can know them all.
Where it fits
It sits above the systems a post-sales team already uses. Odie lists integrations with Salesforce, Zendesk, HubSpot, Slack, Outlook and Gmail, and feeds the agents your team already runs.
It sits beside, or replaces, a customer success platform such as Gainsight, Planhat, ChurnZero or Vitally. The optional Customer Operating System is the vendor's own alternative to a CRM-style customer success platform.
What stands out
- The knowledge engine can be bought on its own and reached through MCP, so the agents and enterprise AI you already own can use it.
- The Customer Operating System adds a daily evaluation of each account, predictive models for renewal risk, workflow automation, a campaign engine and prebuilt agents.
- Pricing has no per-seat charge. It is based on how many business units, customers and employees Odie maintains knowledge for, and how you connect to it.
- Scheduled daily analyses are covered by the account fee, with tokens used only for on-demand work.
My take
The idea is interesting: capture the judgement of your best people, then give it to every agent and person. I would not buy it on the idea alone. It only works if the captured knowledge is accurate, and that depends on your team taking the interviews seriously.
I would also be careful with the rename. Reviews and comparison sites still talk about Totango, and the product has shifted from a classic customer success platform to an AI-first one. Ask for a demo built on your own data.
Verdict
Pick it if you have a large post-sales book, a team that already experiments with AI agents, and budget for a long contract. Skip it if you have a small number of accounts, or if you want to compare prices and start on your own this week.

Notes
Your note
Before you choose
A sales conversation is required
Pricing is not published as a simple plan list. The vendor describes its pricing as based on the knowledge it maintains and how you connect, and it directs you to sales. Contract terms typically start at one year, and most customers sign for two. Plan for a commitment, not a short experiment.

The product changed under the same name
Totango is now Odie, and the old Customer Success Platform and Catalyst sit alongside it. Make sure you know which product you are being offered, and what happens to existing Totango features in your contract.
Data quality decides the result
Odie's output comes from your CRM, usage, email and call data, plus the interviews. If those sources are patchy, so are the narratives. Audit your data and agree who owns the knowledge before you start. The vendor mentions a free testing pool for the first 60 days after activation.
Compare the alternatives
Gainsight, Planhat, ChurnZero, Vitally and Custify are the established customer success platforms. If your main need is health scores and renewal workflows, one of them may fit better and be simpler to buy.
