Why Read AI

Read AI joins your meetings, transcribes conversations and writes summaries with action items and citations back to the original meeting or message. It is designed for anyone who spends time in calls and emails, from founders to sales teams, who wants centralised meeting notes without a full sales platform.

Best for
Founders, sales and client teams who spend much of the week in video calls and want accurate notes, action items and searchable meeting history without a full sales intelligence platform.

What it does

Read AI is a meeting assistant. It joins your calls on Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Webex, records and transcribes them and writes a summary with action items and highlights. It also has desktop, mobile and browser apps for in-person meetings and calls where a bot is not welcome.

Beyond notes, it reads your calendar, email and messages. Ask Read lets you ask a question across all of that and returns answers with citations to the meeting or message they came from.

Why you would need it

Meetings produce decisions, and most of those decisions evaporate. Someone promised a follow-up, someone else remembers it differently and a week later nobody can say what was agreed. You feel it when you prepare for a client call and cannot find what you said last time.

A meeting assistant removes the note-taking from the meeting and gives you a record you can search. You stay in the conversation and the action items land where your team already works.

Where it fits

Read AI sits beside your video tools, calendar and inbox. It feeds your task and project tools, your CRM and your chat. The vendor lists Slack, Microsoft Teams, Asana, Jira, Linear, Notion, Confluence, HubSpot and Salesforce, plus Zapier and webhooks for anything else.

It replaces a person typing notes, or a mix of recorder and transcript files. It does not replace a CRM, and it is lighter than a revenue intelligence platform such as Gong.

What stands out

  • Meeting reports and transcripts in more than 20 languages, with speaker metrics and sentiment.
  • Ask Read, which searches across meetings, email and chat and cites its sources.
  • Action items that can be pushed to Asana, Jira, Linear and similar tools.
  • A REST API, webhooks and an official remote MCP server in open beta.

My take

Read AI is a good fit if you want notes and follow-ups to be automatic and cheap to try. The free plan, with five meeting reports each month, lets you see whether the summaries are good enough for your calls.

What I would watch is how it feels for the other people in the call. A bot joining a client meeting is a trust question, so tell people up front. Also compare it with Fireflies, Otter and Fathom, because the note quality is close and the details around pricing and integrations decide it.

Verdict

Pick Read AI if you live in meetings and want searchable notes, cited answers and action items routed to your task tools. Skip it if you need deal forecasting and rep coaching across a large sales team, where a heavier platform is a better fit.

Before you choose

The free plan is small

The free plan covers five meeting reports and transcripts each month, with basic integrations. That is enough to test, not enough to rely on. CRM and task integrations, unlimited transcripts and the rest need Pro or above. Check which plan holds the integrations you need.

Video playback and compliance sit higher up

Video playback comes with Enterprise. HIPAA, SAML and SCIM belong to Enterprise+. If your legal or security team has requirements, check which plan meets them before you roll it out.

Recording is a trust and privacy question

Recording meetings means telling people. Check local rules and your client contracts, and set a policy for which meetings the assistant may join. Read AI says everyone in the meeting knows it is there.

Compare the alternatives

Fireflies, Otter, Fathom and tl;dv cover the same ground. Run the same two or three real calls through each and compare the summaries, language support and CRM sync before you pick one.
