Send time optimisation

What it is
Send time optimisation looks at each person's past behaviour, mainly when they opened or clicked earlier emails, and delivers your message at the time they are most likely to look at it. Instead of choosing one time for the whole list, the tool spreads delivery across the day. For example, a night owl might receive a campaign at ten in the evening, while an early riser gets it at seven. Brevo, Campaign Monitor and Mailchimp are examples of tools listed with this feature.
Why it matters
Inbox attention is limited, and an email that arrives at the wrong moment can sink below newer messages. This feature aims to lift opens without extra work, although the size of the gain depends on your audience and cannot be promised. You need it for larger lists sent regularly. For time-critical messages, such as a webinar reminder, you may prefer a fixed time.
What to check
- How much past data does the tool need before it can predict a time for each person?
- What happens for new contacts who have no history?
- Can you set a window for delivery, such as within twenty-four hours?
- Can you test it against a normal send and compare the results?
