Cart abandonment emails

What it is
A cart abandonment email reminds a shopper that they left something behind. The tool spots when a visitor has added items to their basket and not paid, then sends one or more emails with the items, a link back to the checkout and sometimes an incentive. The automation comes ready-made and connects directly to a shop platform, rather than needing you to build it. Brevo, Kit and Mailchimp are examples of tools listed with this feature.
Why it matters
Many shoppers leave before paying, for reasons such as distraction, surprise costs or comparing options. A well-timed reminder recovers some of those sales without extra advertising spend. You need it if you run an online shop with a regular flow of visitors. If you sell only through invoices or bookings, or sell very few orders, it will rarely be triggered.
What to check
- Which shop platforms does it connect to natively, and does yours work without extra tools?
- Can you edit the timing, number of emails and the wording?
- Does the email show the actual products and a working link to the checkout?
- Can you see how much revenue the reminders recover?
