Lists the privacy laws and consent frameworks the vendor says the tool is built to support, such as GDPR, ePrivacy, CCPA and LGPD.

What it is

Privacy and cookie rules differ by country and region. This feature records which of them a tool says it supports. Common examples are the GDPR and ePrivacy rules in the EU, the UK GDPR and PECR in the UK, the CCPA and CPRA in California, and Brazil's LGPD. Supporting a law usually means the banner wording, consent choices and records match what that law asks for.

Why it matters

The rules that apply depend on where your visitors and customers are, not only where your business is based. A UK shop selling to Germany and California may need to follow all three sets of rules. A tool that covers only one region can leave gaps. A longer list is not automatically better, because a small business serving a single country needs only the rules for that country, applied correctly.

What to check

  • Ask for the list of laws in writing and match it against the countries where your visitors live.
  • Check whether the banner can change by visitor location, for example opt-in in Europe and opt-out elsewhere.
  • Find out how the vendor keeps up when a law or regulator guidance changes.
  • Ask whether consent records are stored in a way you could show to a regulator.
