What it is
Prebuilt integrations are ready-made connections between the AI tool and other software, such as your email, calendar, customer database, spreadsheet or chat app. Once connected, the agent can read information from those apps and take actions in them. In the library, this feature is recorded as a number for each tool, the count of integrations the vendor offers.
Why it matters
An agent that cannot reach your data or tools can only talk, not do anything useful. Ready-made connections save you from building and maintaining your own, which is often the slowest and most expensive part of an automation project. You need a good fit with the apps you already use. The total count matters less than whether your five or six key apps are covered, and a smaller list that includes them beats a larger one that does not.
What to check
- Ask for the list and check that every app you rely on appears, including the exact version or edition.
- Test what the connection can actually do, for example whether it only reads data or can also create and update records.
- Check whether a missing app can be reached through a general connector or a web interface.
- Find out whether connections are included in your plan or sold separately.
