Lindy

Builds AI agents that automate recurring work across email, calendar, CRM and Slack without code.

Why Lindy

Lindy lets non-technical teams automate recurring work across their business apps without writing code. Agents handle multi-step tasks, from email workflows to meeting transcription, and improve over time using company context. It is built for sales, support, operations, and product teams who want automation embedded in Slack and Gmail.

Best for
Non-technical teams that live in Slack and email and want an AI teammate to handle cross-app tasks, meeting notes and recurring reports without building workflows themselves.

What it does

Lindy is an AI teammate. It lives in your team's Slack, and you can also reach it through iMessage and SMS, a Chrome extension in Gmail and a web app. It connects to your business tools and carries out work across them: drafting email replies, labelling the inbox, preparing meeting briefs and answering questions about your data.

It records meetings on Google Meet, Zoom and Teams and files the transcripts and summaries in a shared library. Routines run recurring jobs on a schedule or a trigger. Skills are reusable playbooks, and its memory lives in plain files that you can open and edit.

Why you would need it

Every team has repeat work that sits between tools. The Monday report, the inbox triage, the follow-up after a call, the question that needs data from three systems. It is too small for a project and too big to ignore.

Lindy aims at that gap without code. You describe the job in a sentence, and it does the steps in your existing apps. You feel the need when people spend the first hour of the week copying numbers around.

Where it fits

Lindy sits across the tools you already use, reading and writing to email, calendar, CRM and project tools. The vendor says it connects to more than 1,000 tools, including Gmail, Slack, Notion and HubSpot. It supports MCP servers for tools that lack an integration, and where neither exists it can drive a browser or write its own integration against the tool's API.

It replaces small automation scripts and manual busywork. It sits beside Zapier Agents and Relevance AI, which take a more build-it-yourself approach.

What stands out

  • Guardrails per integration: always allow, require approval, or never offer writes.
  • Credits pooled across the whole workspace, so a team shares one balance.
  • Routines made of a trigger, a plain-English prompt and a destination for the result.
  • Memory in plain files, and skills you can save once and share with the team.

My take

The part I like is the guardrail model. An agent that writes to your CRM and email is only useful if you control what it may do. Reads are never guarded, and writes can ask for approval in Slack, which is the right default.

What I would watch is cost and scope. Credits make usage hard to predict, and the guardrails only apply in shared Slack threads. Start with read-only tools and approvals, and widen access once you trust the results.

Verdict

Pick Lindy if your team works in Slack and email and wants an assistant that acts inside them. Skip it if you want a visual workflow builder, or if you need strict control everywhere, because guardrails do not cover every channel.

Before you choose

Seats and credits

Every active workspace user takes a seat, and all seats share one pool of credits. Bigger jobs use more credits, and the vendor says that when the pool runs low Lindy pauses credit-using actions. Admins can top up. Estimate a normal week of use during the trial, because that decides which plan you need.

Guardrails have gaps

Guardrails apply in shared Slack threads only. Your web chat, Slack direct messages and iMessage or SMS are not guarded. A guardrail also covers every account under an integration, so you cannot yet set different rules for a work and a personal Gmail. Keep that in mind when you set permissions.

The product has changed

Lindy is now sold as an AI teammate inside Slack, and the vendor's own pages describe that. Older descriptions of Lindy as a no-code agent builder are out of date. If you want to build visual flows, compare Zapier Agents and n8n.

Trial, not a free plan

The free option is a set of starter credits that last 7 days, with no card needed. That is a trial, not a free plan. Setup starts by adding Lindy to your team's Slack, so check how it works for your team if you use another chat tool.
