International numbers
You can get local or toll-free phone numbers in countries other than your own to call from and receive calls on.

What it is
International numbers let a business hold phone numbers in other countries. A company based in the Netherlands could have a UK number and a German number, so customers there call a local number instead of paying for an international call. Aircall, Freshcaller, Gong and Quo are examples of tools that list this.
Why it matters
People are more likely to answer a call from a number that looks local, and customers prefer to reach you without international charges. You need this when you sell or support customers in several countries. If all your customers are in one country, it adds nothing. Availability varies a lot between countries, and some require proof of a local address before a number is issued.
What to check
- Ask which countries are covered and whether local numbers and toll-free numbers are both available.
- Check whether a business address or documents are needed to obtain a number.
- Test call quality to the countries that matter to you.
- Find out whether you can keep an existing number by moving it to the tool.
