In-person and hybrid events

What it is
An in-person event is held in a physical venue, and a hybrid event mixes a venue with an online audience. A tool that supports these goes beyond video sessions. It might offer a check-in app, printed badges or a QR code scan at the door, and give online viewers the same registration as people in the room. For example, a conference might sell tickets for both and track who attended in each way. BigMarker, Webex Events and Zoom Webinars are examples of tools listed with this feature.
Why it matters
Running a physical and an online audience in separate tools doubles the admin and splits your attendee data. One system keeps registration, reminders and reporting together. You need this if you hold meetups, conferences or training days with a remote audience. If all your events are online, you can skip it.
What to check
- Which on-site tools are included: check-in, badge printing, capacity limits or session scanning?
- Do online and in-person attendees register through the same form and appear in the same report?
- Can the online audience take part, for example by asking questions, in a session that is held live in the room?
- Does the check-in app work when the venue's internet is poor?
