Free plan users

What it is
This feature records how many people can use the tool at no cost on its free plan. The figure is a number of users, sometimes called seats. A tool may allow just one person, a small team of up to ten, or an unlimited number of users with other limits applied instead. It tells you whether a team can start on the free plan together or whether one person must test it alone.
Why it matters
A free plan is a good way to try a tool with real work before you commit. If the free plan allows only one user, you cannot properly test how colleagues collaborate. The number also shows when costs begin, because adding the next person may move you onto a paid plan. It matters most for small teams who want to delay spending. If you already know you need paid features, the free seat count matters little.
What to check
- Check whether the number applies to the free plan only or also to trials of paid plans.
- Ask whether guests, clients or viewers count as users.
- Find out which other limits come with the free plan, such as projects, storage or history.
- Confirm what happens when you add one more person than the free plan allows.
