Consent audit log
The tool keeps a dated record of each visitor's cookie consent choice, so you can show later what was agreed and when.

What it is
A consent audit log is a stored record of each consent decision made on your site. Each entry typically shows the date and time, the choices made, the version of the banner shown and an identifier for the visitor, without naming them. Cookiebot is listed as having it. The record is what you would show if a regulator or a customer asked how consent was collected.
Why it matters
Privacy rules such as the GDPR expect you to be able to demonstrate that consent was given, not only to say that it was. A log gives you that proof. It matters for any business that uses advertising or analytics cookies and handles visitors from Europe. It matters little if the site sets no cookies that need consent.
What to check
- Ask what is recorded for each visitor, and how long the records are kept.
- Check whether you can search, view and export the log when asked.
- Find out where the records are stored, and whether that location suits your privacy obligations.
- Ask what happens to the records if you cancel the service.
