Carrd vs Squarespace

Carrd logovsSquarespace logo
Carrd is a one-page tool for tests and campaigns. Squarespace is a polished multi-page site with blog and store. Most small B2B teams will want Squarespace.

The verdict

For a small B2B company that needs a credible website, I'd pick Squarespace. You get a guided editor, templates that work on phones, hosting and a domain in one account. It is also hard to get wrong.

For a landing page, a waiting list or a quick test of an offer, I'd pick Carrd. It is faster, cheaper to be wrong with and does not tie you to a bigger platform.

The two combine well. Run your main site on Squarespace and use Carrd for short-lived campaign pages or experiments you do not want inside the main site.

If you find you need more design control than Squarespace gives you, the next step is Webflow or Framer, not Carrd. Carrd is not a smaller version of a full site. It is a different tool for a different job.

Who each is for

Choose Carrd if…

Pick Carrd when you need one page live today. It suits founders, freelancers and small teams who want to test an offer, collect sign-ups or put a profile online.

Setup is short: pick a template, replace the text, connect a form to your email tool and publish. Paid plans add your own domain, forms and widgets.

It also makes sense as a second site. If you already have a main website, Carrd is a cheap place for campaign pages.

Do not pick it as your company website. There is no blog or content system, design control is narrower than in a full builder, and email and payment connections are a fixed list. If you outgrow it, you start again on another tool.

Choose Squarespace if…

Pick Squarespace when you want a brochure site, a portfolio or a simple store up quickly, and design matters more than custom functionality. It suits founders, consultancies, creators and small businesses without a developer.

I picked it for my dad's site because it is so straightforward. A polished site took only a few hours, and editing content was easy.

The trade-off is flexibility. You pick from pre-designed sections, so you cannot freely reshape layouts or build custom features. Page speed is decent, not the fastest. Also check how a form lead reaches your CRM before you build, because that is where a Squarespace site can start to feel tight.
