Carrd vs Sellfy

Carrd logovsSellfy logo
Carrd puts a single page online fast, while Sellfy is a hosted store that takes payment and delivers files. Pick Carrd to show something, Sellfy to sell something.

The verdict

If your goal is to get a page live today and see whether anyone cares, pick Carrd. It has a free plan with up to three sites, so the test costs you almost nothing.

If you already know people will pay and you have a product to hand over, pick Sellfy. Checkout, secure file delivery and subscriptions are what you are paying for, and building them yourself on a one-page site is a poor use of time.

If you are unsure, I'd start with Carrd to prove demand and move to Sellfy once the first sales are coming in. The two also sit together without trouble, as Sellfy lets you embed buy buttons on other pages. Check that your Carrd plan allows the embed before you plan around it.

Neither suits a company that needs a multi-page site with a blog. Look at a full website builder for that.

Who each is for

Carrd logo

Choose Carrd if…

Pick Carrd when the job is a single page. A landing page for an offer, a waiting list, an event page or a link-in-bio all fit. You choose a template, change the text, connect a form to your email tool and publish.

It suits founders, freelancers and small teams who want to test an idea before spending real money. A paid plan adds your own domain, forms and widgets. The paid plans are billed yearly, so check that fits before you commit.

The limit is clear. One page per site means no real blog, and design control is narrower than in a full builder. There is also no store, so anything you sell has to go through a payment tool you connect.

Sellfy logo

Choose Sellfy if…

Pick Sellfy when you have something to sell and want the sale to work from day one. It handles the storefront, the checkout and the delivery of files, and the vendor states it takes no transaction fees on its plans.

It suits creators and small brands with a handful of products and an audience: ebooks, templates, courses, subscriptions or merchandise. You can sell downloads of up to 20GB per file, as well as physical goods and print-on-demand items. Checkout accepts PayPal, Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay and cards.

The limits are customisation and lock-in. Plans are tiered by your annual sales volume, so check where each tier ends. Your customers, products and order history live inside Sellfy, so ask how to export them early. There is no free plan listed, so expect to pay from the start.
