Revolut Pro

Revolut Pro logo
Provides a free business banking account and invoicing inside the Revolut app for freelancers.

Why Revolut Pro

Gives freelancers and sole traders a free, separate business banking account inside Revolut, complete with invoicing, payment links and a dedicated card. It sits alongside your personal account with no monthly fee or incorporation. Built for solo operators who want their business and personal money kept cleanly apart.

Best for
Freelancers, sole traders and side-hustlers who want a separate business account inside the Revolut app to get paid, keep business spend apart and send payment links, without registering a company.

What it does

Revolut Pro is a simplified business account that lives inside the personal Revolut app. You add it in a few taps, describe your business and give some proof of activity, such as a website or social page. You then get a separate IBAN, a dedicated Pro card and account details of its own.

You can take payments by payment link, QR code or invoice, in person with Revolut Terminals or Tap to Pay on iPhone, and see your cash flow in the same app as your personal money. The vendor offers cashback on business spend with the Pro card. Availability varies by market.

Why you would need it

Mixing business and personal money is the usual start of a messy year-end. You pay for software on your private card, clients transfer to the account you use for groceries and your bookkeeper has to sort it out.

A separate account fixes that. Everything that belongs to the business passes through one place, and you can send a client a payment link in a minute.

Where it fits

Revolut Pro sits at the bottom of a small business's finance stack: it is where the money lands. Invoices and payments come from clients, and your bookkeeping tool or accountant reads the transactions. It replaces the personal account you were using, and for some people it replaces a separate payment link or invoicing tool.

If you incorporate later, the vendor points you to Revolut Business, which is a different product for registered companies.

What stands out

  • No monthly subscription for the account itself, and setup inside an app you may already use.
  • A separate IBAN and card, which keeps business spending apart.
  • Several ways to take payment: links, invoices, QR codes, terminals and Tap to Pay.
  • Cash flow insight in the same app.

My take

For a freelancer with simple needs, this is a low-friction way to separate your finances. The setup is quick and there is no fixed cost to try it.

What I would watch is the fee on payments. You do not pay a subscription, but you do pay processing fees when customers pay by card, and they are higher for international and commercial cards. Also check the market you are in, since features and fees differ. It is a money app, not a full bookkeeping tool.

Verdict

Pick Revolut Pro if you are a freelancer or sole trader who wants a free, separate account and simple ways to get paid. Skip it if you are an incorporated company, need deep accounting links or want a branch-based bank. Dutch companies may prefer Rabobank for the local relationship.

Before you choose

It is for smaller ventures

Revolut Pro is built for freelancers, sole traders and side-hustlers. A registered company is pointed to Revolut Business instead. Decide which you are before you sign up, and expect to move if you grow or incorporate.

Payment fees vary by method and card

There is no subscription, but card payments carry processing fees. Terminals, Tap to Pay and online payments are priced differently, and international and commercial cards cost more. Work out your mix of customers before you assume it is the cheapest option.

Check your market

The features and fees on the Pro page depend on the country. Read the page for your own market, including cashback terms and which payment tools you can use.

Check the accounting link

It is not a bookkeeping tool. Check how you will get statements into your accounting tool, such as Moneybird or Exact Online, before you move your invoicing over.
