Notion AI

Automatically transcribes and summarises your meetings directly into your Notion workspace for teams.

Why Notion AI

Notion AI Meeting Notes records and transcribes conversations from Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and in-person meetings, then generates summaries and action items on a Notion page. It works without a separate bot joining video calls. Designed for teams already using Notion as their workspace who want meeting outcomes captured directly alongside related projects and documents.

Best for
Teams already working in Notion who want AI agents, meeting notes and search that run inside their own pages and databases instead of in a separate tool.

What it does

Notion AI is the AI layer inside Notion. The Notion Agent can take on whole tasks: it uses your workspace and connected apps to create and edit pages and databases. Custom Agents handle work that repeats, such as answering questions in Slack or routing tasks. AI Meeting Notes transcribe and summarise meetings. Enterprise Search looks across the workspace and connected apps. There is also a research mode for longer reports and AI blocks for drafting.

Why you would need it

Teams that live in Notion already keep their docs, projects and decisions there. The pain is that the context is in Notion but the AI is somewhere else, so you copy and paste into a chatbot and lose the links.

With the AI inside the workspace, the model can read the page, the project and the database next to it. Meeting notes land where the project is tracked. You stop moving text between tools.

Where it fits

It only makes sense on top of an existing Notion workspace. What feeds it is your pages, databases and the apps you connect. What it feeds is the same workspace: updated pages, tasks and summaries.

It can replace a standalone meeting notes app for a team that wants notes next to the work, and a separate search tool across Slack and Drive. It does not replace a general assistant for tasks outside Notion.

What stands out

  • AI Meeting Notes work without a bot joining the call.
  • Custom Agents are set up once and the whole team benefits.
  • You can switch a workflow to a different model or provider without losing context.
  • Admin controls and usage dashboards show what the AI is doing and what it costs in credits.
  • Notion states it has SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001, and that customer data is not used to train models.

My take

I'd pick it if the team is already on Notion and you are on, or willing to move to, the Business plan. The value is the context: an agent that can read the real project database is more useful than a chatbot with a pasted summary.

I would skip it if the team does not use Notion for the rest of its work. Then you are buying a workspace upgrade for one feature, and a dedicated meeting notes tool will be simpler. Check the credit model too, since heavier agent use is metered.

Verdict

Pick Notion AI if Notion is already your system of record and you want agents and meeting notes there. Skip it if you are not on Notion, or if you only need a meeting recorder.

Before you choose

Not sold as a separate add-on any more

Notion AI is now part of the Business and Enterprise plans. Free and Plus get a limited trial of the AI features. That means the real price of Notion AI is the price of moving the whole workspace up a tier, per seat. Count every seat before you decide.

Credits for heavier use

Notion Agent is free to try, and use beyond that is metered in credits. If you plan to build many Custom Agents, ask how usage is counted and watch the usage dashboard from the first week.

Value depends on the workspace

An agent is only as useful as the pages and databases it can read. A tidy workspace gives good results. A messy one gives confident answers from stale pages. The verified badge on pages helps mark what is current.

Data handling differs by plan

Notion states that LLM providers keep data for 30 days on non-Enterprise plans and keep none on Enterprise. If you handle sensitive client data, check this before you switch AI on. Compare with Otter.ai or Fireflies.ai if you only need meeting notes.
