Centralises company knowledge and delivers verified answers through Slack, Teams and AI assistants.

Why Guru

Guru is an AI-powered knowledge-management platform that structures company information and delivers verified, cited answers through Slack, Microsoft Teams and AI assistants such as Claude. It uses automated checks to verify content stays current, catch duplicates and flag gaps. Best for larger organisations that need a single governed source of truth for their AI assistants and teams.

Best for
Larger organisations, and the HR, support, sales and operations teams in them, that want one governed source of knowledge so staff and AI assistants answer from verified, permission-aware information.

What it does

Guru is a knowledge management platform. It collects company knowledge into one structured place, and then checks it. Knowledge Agents flag duplicates, conflicting versions, gaps and stale content, and route fixes to the right expert.

People get answers inside the tools they already use, such as Slack, Microsoft Teams and the browser. AI assistants can query it too, and every answer comes with a citation.

Why you would need it

Company knowledge spreads across wikis, documents, CRM notes and chat. Two people give two different answers to the same question, and an out-of-date policy gets quoted for years. When you add AI assistants on top, the problem gets worse, because an assistant will repeat whatever it finds.

The pain shows up when a customer or employee gets a wrong answer and nobody can tell where it came from. Guru's pitch is to fix the source before the AI uses it.

Where it fits

Guru sits above the tools that hold knowledge and below the places where people ask questions. It feeds Slack, Teams, browsers and AI assistants. It overlaps with wiki tools such as Confluence, Notion and Document360, and it adds a verification layer on top of them.

What stands out

  • Automated checks for duplicates, conflicts, gaps and out-of-date content.
  • Permission-aware answers, so people only see what they are allowed to see.
  • Citations and audit trails on every answer.
  • SOC 2 Type 2 certification and HIPAA readiness.

How the verification works

Content in Guru does not just sit there. Knowledge Agents verify or unverify information, merge duplicates and flag gaps, and corrections go to the right expert and spread across the organisation. That loop is the difference between a wiki that decays and one that stays current, as long as the experts actually respond.

My take

The idea is right: AI is only as good as the knowledge it reads, so govern the knowledge first. That matters most in a larger company, where wrong answers are costly and compliance matters.

For a small team it is probably more than you need. A tidy Notion workspace and a habit of reviewing pages would get you most of the way. Guru also sells on a quote basis, and the vendor does not show plan prices, so expect to scope an engagement with its team.

Verdict

Pick Guru when you are a larger organisation that wants verified answers, with audit trails, delivered in Slack, Teams and AI assistants. Skip it when you are a small team that wants to sign up and start the same day.

Before you choose

Sales-led buying

There is no published price list and no self-serve plan. You scope a package with the vendor, based on size and complexity, so budget time for conversations. The vendor mentions a reduced rate for qualifying nonprofits, if that applies to you.

Value depends on your content

Guru verifies and organises knowledge, but it needs people to own it. If nobody is responsible for the content, you will have a governed layer on top of an unmanaged mess. Name owners per topic before you start.

Overlap with wikis

If you already have a well-kept wiki in Confluence or Notion, check what Guru adds beyond verification and delivery. Run a pilot with one team and measure how often answers are used.

AI use needs a plan

Guru shines when AI assistants query it. If you have no assistants yet, the main benefit is the Slack and Teams delivery. Check that your assistants can connect via MCP before you commit.
