What it is
Sender reputation is the trust score that mailbox providers such as Gmail and Outlook give your sending domain and mailboxes. Monitoring means the tool checks that standing for you, looks for your domain or IP address on public blacklists, and alerts you when something slips. For example, a tool such as MailReach or Folderly can flag that your domain has been listed, so you can pause sending before more messages go to spam.
Why it matters
A damaged reputation is quiet. Emails still appear as sent, but they land in spam folders or are never delivered, and replies dry up without any error message. This matters most if you send cold outreach, newsletters or sales sequences in volume, or if you recently changed domain or sending tool. If you only send a few one-to-one emails a day from a well-established mailbox, it is a lower priority.
