What it is
This feature is a short text answer rather than a yes or no. It lists where the product can be used, for example in a web browser only, or through apps for iPhone and Android as well. For a digital product tool, it can apply to two groups of people: you, as the creator who manages the content, and your customers or students who watch, read or listen.
Why it matters
Your customers will open your product on whatever device they have to hand. If many of them learn on a phone or on a commute, a missing mobile app or a poor mobile layout will cost you completions and satisfaction. Likewise, if you run your business from a phone, you need to know whether you can manage sales and members there. This matters most when your audience is spread across many devices. It matters less if everyone uses a desktop browser at work.
What to check
- Is there a native mobile app for your customers, or only a mobile-friendly website?
- Can you manage products, members and sales from a phone or tablet, or only from a computer?
- Do downloads, video and audio work on the devices your customers actually use?
- Does the tool work on older browsers or devices that your audience may still have?
