Risk-free trial period
You can try a matched freelancer for a short initial period and pay nothing if you decide not to continue.

What it is
A risk-free trial lets you start working with a matched freelancer for a short, defined period before committing. If it does not work out, you stop and are not charged for the trial. For example, a developer joins your team for a week or two, and you decide at the end whether to keep them. Toptal is a tool that lists this feature.
Why it matters
Interviews show how someone talks about work, but not how they work with you. A trial lets you test communication, speed and quality on real tasks at low risk. It matters most for longer, expensive engagements. For one-off small jobs, the trial adds little.
What to check
- How long does the trial last, and what exactly is free?
- What do you need to do to end the trial, and by when?
- Is the freelancer paid during the trial, and who bears that cost?
- Can you start a second trial with another candidate if the first does not fit?
