Built-in time tracking
Lets people log the hours they spend on a task or project inside the tool itself, and use those hours for reporting or billing.

What it is
Built-in time tracking means there is a timer or an hours field inside the tool, so you do not need a separate app. On a freelance marketplace such as Fiverr, it can record the hours a freelancer works on an hourly engagement. The logged time is then tied to the job, so everyone sees the same figure.
Why it matters
When you pay by the hour, or bill clients by the hour, the record of time is what the invoice is based on. Without a shared record, disputes arise over how long a task took. It matters most for hourly contracts and agencies. It matters less for fixed-price work, where what counts is the result and not the hours. Keep in mind that the tracker only shows time logged, not the quality of the work.
What to check
- Is the time record accepted by the other party, or can it be disputed afterwards?
- Does it record activity evidence, such as screenshots, and is that acceptable to you?
- Can tracked time flow directly into an invoice or payment?
- Can you set a cap on hours before work begins?
