Mailbox sending limits

Admins can set daily or hourly sending caps per connected mailbox to protect email deliverability.

What it is

A mailbox sending limit caps how many emails a connected mailbox can send in a set period, such as per day or per hour. An administrator sets the figure, and the tool pauses further sends once it is reached and continues later. For example, you might allow each rep's mailbox 50 sequence emails a day, so a large list does not go out in one burst. Outreach is listed as a tool that offers it.

Why it matters

Mailbox providers watch for sudden volume spikes. Sending too much, too fast from one mailbox can push your messages into spam folders and damage the reputation of the whole domain, which also affects ordinary business email. Limits matter most for cold outreach, new mailboxes and new domains, which need to build up gradually. They matter less if you only send a few one-to-one emails a day. The right number depends on the provider and how established the mailbox is.

What to check

  • Can limits be set per mailbox, or only for the whole account.
  • Can an admin lock the limits, so reps cannot raise them on their own.
  • Does the tool queue and resume sends automatically once the limit resets.
  • Is there a warm-up option for new mailboxes, or guidance on safe starting volumes.
