Duplicate outreach prevention

What it is
Duplicate outreach prevention is a safeguard that checks who is already being contacted before a new sequence starts. If one rep is emailing someone at a company, the tool blocks or warns a second rep who tries to enrol the same person, or in some tools anyone at the same company. A person who is already in one sequence is also stopped from being added to another. Outreach is listed as a tool that offers it.
Why it matters
When several reps work from the same lists, prospects can receive overlapping messages from different colleagues. That looks disorganised, annoys the buyer and raises the chance of spam complaints. The control matters most for teams of several reps, for account-based selling where many people sit at one company, and when marketing and sales both send email. It matters little for a single salesperson working a personal list.
What to check
- Does the check cover the person, the whole company, or both.
- Is the rule a hard block or a warning, and who can override it.
- Does it look across all teams and sequences, or only inside one.
- Does it include contacts you emailed outside the tool, for example from a CRM.
