Contentsquare vs Plausible Analytics

Plausible counts your traffic on one simple page without cookies. Contentsquare shows what visitors do on the page, with replays and heatmaps. Most small B2B teams start with Plausible.

The verdict

For a small B2B team with a marketing site, a blog and a few landing pages, I'd pick Plausible. The whole team will open it, and that matters more than depth. Add Contentsquare only when you have a busy site with a clear funnel, such as a signup or a webshop, and someone whose job is to act on what the recordings show.

They are not rivals in most set-ups. Contentsquare does not replace a web analytics tool in the way Plausible does for a small site, and Plausible has no replays or heatmaps at all. If you want to try the behaviour side before committing, Contentsquare has a free tier for experience analytics, and a lighter free tool such as Microsoft Clarity may be enough at first.

  • Only Contentsquare has an MCP server, so an AI employee can work in it directly.

Who each is for

Choose Contentsquare if…

Pick Contentsquare if you run a site with real traffic and a funnel that matters, and you already know the headline numbers. It suits product, UX and conversion teams who run tests and want to see where visitors get stuck before they guess at a fix.

It also fits teams that need more than replays. The wider platform covers surveys, product analytics and an official MCP server, with automatic event capture so you are not waiting on a tagging project. The condition is people. Replays only pay back when someone reviews them each week and turns what they see into tickets. Without that, you are buying a library of videos nobody watches.

Choose Plausible Analytics if…

Pick Plausible if you want clear numbers without training and you care about privacy. It suits small marketing teams, SaaS companies and agencies who want to know which blog post brought signups, without losing twenty minutes in menus.

The script is small, the data stays on EU infrastructure and you can run the open-source Community Edition yourself if you prefer. The ceiling is real. There are no replays, no heatmaps and no user-level behaviour inside an app, so you may add a second tool later. Plausible has no MCP server, though it has a Stats API for reporting. For most small sites that trade is fine.
