BigCommerce vs Framer

BigCommerce logovsFramer logo
BigCommerce runs the store: catalogue, checkout, orders and B2B. Framer runs the marketing site: design, CMS and hosting for non-developers. Pick by what you sell and who edits.

The verdict

If your site mostly explains what you do and sends leads to your CRM, pick Framer. If your business depends on a catalogue, orders and checkout, pick BigCommerce. Do not stretch either past its job.

For a small B2B team the question to ask is how many products you list and whether buyers order online. A handful of services and a contact form is a Framer job. A price list, repeat orders and an ERP link is a BigCommerce job. If you need both, treat them as two layers with separate owners, and check how they connect before you commit to either. A site that lives in Framer also cannot simply be exported later, so keep your content structured.

Who each is for

BigCommerce logo

Choose BigCommerce if…

Pick BigCommerce if you sell products and expect to outgrow a simple store. It suits growing retailers and B2B sellers with a developer, or an agency, who want to build around documented APIs. A second storefront, a custom catalogue or a B2B price list all point this way.

It has a 15-day trial and no free plan. Plans are tied to your annual sales, and the payment provider you pick changes your fees. The hosted MCP server is still in beta, so test it on a sandbox store before relying on it. Skip it if you just want a good-looking company site. Nobody enjoys a store admin for a brochure.

Framer logo

Choose Framer if…

Pick Framer if the marketing site is owned by design or marketing, and speed of change matters. You design on a canvas, publish the same day, and manage a blog or case studies in the built-in CMS. An AI agent can draft pages on the canvas while you keep full control of the result.

There is a free plan, so you can build before you pay. Watch the growth costs: pricing is per site, extra editors cost money, and pages, CMS items and bandwidth have limits per plan. Skip it if you need a large product catalogue or a deep editorial workflow. Count your pages against each plan first, because that decides your real bill.
