Clearbit
Why Clearbit
Clearbit is a B2B data provider that enriches records with company and contact details, helps score and route leads, and reveals which companies visit your website. It is now part of HubSpot. It suits sales and marketing teams that want clean data in their CRM and shorter forms on their site.
What it does
Clearbit is a B2B data provider. It gathers data from the public web, its own sources and language models, and turns it into standardised company and contact fields. You use those fields to enrich records, score leads, route them to the right rep and personalise outreach.
Its site names four jobs. Enrichment fills in records for leads, contacts and accounts. Scoring and routing uses fields such as industry codes, corporate hierarchy, role and seniority. Reveal turns anonymous website traffic into companies using IP intelligence. Form shortening removes fields from your forms when Clearbit can fill them in from an email address.
Why you would need it
You feel the pain when a form asks for ten fields and half your visitors leave, or when a lead arrives with only an email address and nobody knows if the company is a fit. Reps then spend time researching instead of selling, and routing rules fail because the industry or company size field is empty.
With enrichment, a record is complete at the moment it is created. The score and the owner can be set straight away, and the form can ask for an email address only.
Where it fits
Clearbit sits between your lead sources and your CRM. Forms, imports and website visits feed it, and it writes standardised fields back to the CRM, where scoring, routing and reporting use them. Its homepage says Clearbit has joined HubSpot, so for many teams it now sits next to HubSpot rather than next to a separate CRM.
It replaces manual research and, for some teams, a separate website visitor identification tool. It does not replace a prospecting database for building lists from scratch. Tools such as Apollo, Cognism and ZoomInfo do that job.
What stands out
- Granular industry data. The vendor lists six-digit NAICS, GICS and SIC categories, which makes routing rules precise.
- Corporate hierarchies. You can see parent companies and subsidiaries, so a lead from a subsidiary reaches the rep who owns the parent.
- Normalised role and seniority. Messy job titles become a standard set you can map to your ideal customer profile.
- Dynamic form shortening. A form shows only the fields that enrichment could not fill.
My take
I'd look at Clearbit when the CRM already holds many leads with thin records and you want the fix to happen automatically. Enrichment pays for itself when it changes a decision, such as who gets a lead or which leads get a call.
What I'd watch is packaging. Clearbit is now part of HubSpot, and the vendor's own site does not show a public price list. Find out how it is sold today and what it costs for your volume before you plan around it.
Verdict
Pick it when you run a B2B funnel on HubSpot or a similar CRM and incomplete records slow you down. Skip it when you need a database to build prospect lists, or when you cannot get a clear price and package for your volume.
Notes
Your note
Before you choose
Pricing and packaging
The vendor's site does not publish plans or prices, and the product now sits inside HubSpot. Ask what is included in your HubSpot subscription, how enrichment is metered, and what happens when you run out. Do this before you promise the team a rollout date.

Coverage depends on your market
Enrichment quality differs by region and company size. Test a sample of your own records, including Dutch and European companies, and check the share of fields that come back filled and correct. Compare it with Apollo, Cognism or Dealfront, which are strong in Europe.
Privacy and consent
Reveal identifies companies from IP addresses, and enrichment adds personal data to records. If you serve EU visitors, check your consent setup and your legal basis, and update your privacy notice. A cookie banner decision can change what Reveal is allowed to do.
Lock-in to the HubSpot platform
Enriched fields end up in your CRM and your scoring rules depend on them. If you later leave HubSpot, you will need a replacement data source. Keep a record of which fields come from enrichment so that you can rebuild them.
