What it is
Official Twilio-hosted MCP server (Public Beta), documented at https://www.twilio.com/docs/ai/mcp. No authentication required (indexes public OpenAPI specs only) and read-only: two tools, twilio__search and twilio__retrieve, covering 1,800+ endpoints across 30+ Twilio products plus SendGrid and Segment docs. Available as a Claude Connector, in the Cursor marketplace (/add-plugin twilio-developer-kit), as a Figma Make connector, and via CLI for Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode. A separate earlier 'Twilio Alpha MCP server' (@twilio-alpha/mcp, github.com/twilio-labs/mcp) also exists from Twilio Labs and requires a Twilio account SID/API key to execute API calls. MCP server itself does not execute API calls.

How to automate Twilio

API and webhooks

Twilio has a REST API for messaging, voice and more, with helper libraries in several languages. Incoming messages and call events reach your application through webhooks. A good first build: send an appointment reminder by SMS, and let the reply update the booking in your CRM.

MCP server

Twilio hosts an official MCP server at mcp.twilio.com/docs with no authentication. It has two tools: one searches API operations and docs, the other retrieves full parameter schemas. It is a Claude connector too. Use it so Claude writes the right API call the first time. Twilio lists execute-ready tools as planned.

No-code automation

Zapier lists a Twilio app. Use it to text a customer when a deal reaches a stage in your CRM, or to alert your team when a high-value form comes in. Check the available actions for your needs before you plan the flow.
