Why PushOwl

PushOwl enables Shopify store owners to send web push notifications for abandoned carts, back-in-stock alerts and promotional campaigns. It is aimed at e-commerce businesses that want to recover lost sales and keep customers informed of product availability. Notifications deliver directly to browsers without requiring customers to download an app.

Best for
Shopify merchants who want to win back visitors who leave without buying, using web push, email and SMS from one app, and who have enough traffic to make cart recovery worth automating.

What it does

PushOwl is a Shopify app for retention marketing. It sends web push notifications, email and SMS from one place, and the vendor also lists WhatsApp marketing. It is now part of Brevo, and its help centre is run by the Brevo PushOwl team.

The core of it is automation for a Shopify store: abandoned cart reminders, back-in-stock alerts, price-drop alerts, order and shipping messages, flash sale campaigns, pop-ups to grow your list and newsletters built in a drag-and-drop editor.

Why you would need it

Most visitors to a shop leave without buying. You paid for that traffic, through ads or content, and the moment they close the tab it is gone. You feel this when your ad spend goes up and your conversion rate does not.

Push, email and SMS give you a way to bring some of those people back. A shopper who wanted a product that was out of stock gets a message the moment it returns. A shopper who left a basket gets a reminder. Those are small automations, but they run every day without you.

Where it fits

PushOwl lives inside Shopify. It reads store events such as carts, products and orders, and it sends messages to shoppers through push, email and SMS. It sits next to your storefront, your review app and your ad accounts.

It replaces a separate push tool and, for a small store, the email platform too. A bigger store with a mature email programme may keep a dedicated tool such as Klaviyo and use PushOwl only for push.

What stands out

  • Web push, email and SMS in one Shopify app, so cart recovery is not split across three tools.
  • A free Basic bundle with unlimited email subscribers, monthly allowances of emails and web push, and back-in-stock and price-drop automations.
  • Integrations with Shopify Flow and Shopify's own marketing automation, plus review and back-in-stock apps.
  • An MCP connection, described in the help centre, so AI assistants can view and change automations.

My take

I would pick it for a small to mid-sized Shopify store that wants recovery automations running quickly. The free bundle lets you test whether push works for your audience before you pay anything.

What I would watch is that it is Shopify only, and that your volume decides the plan. Push notification allowances rise with the Plus and Power bundles. Push also behaves differently from email: people opt in on the site, and the audience is usually smaller than your email list.

Verdict

Pick PushOwl if you run a Shopify store and want abandoned cart, back-in-stock and price-drop messages across push, email and SMS without stitching tools together. Skip it if you are on another platform, or if you already have a strong email and SMS setup and only need a single channel. Brevo itself is the next place to look if you want a wider email platform.

Before you choose

It only works on Shopify

PushOwl is built for Shopify stores. If you move to another platform, you lose the app. Headless storefronts are supported through documented guides for Nacelle and Shogun, but that needs a developer, so check the setup before you commit.

Volume decides the plan

The free Basic bundle caps web push notifications and emails each month. Plus and Power raise the push allowance and add features such as abandoned cart automation and A/B testing. Estimate your push audience and send volume first. The pricing page shows what each bundle holds today.

Push is its own channel

Web push needs shoppers to opt in on your site, and results differ by browser and device. Treat it as an extra channel beside email, not a replacement. Test it against your own audience with the free bundle before you plan around it.

Compare it with the email specialists

PushOwl pairs with Brevo for email and SMS. If email is your main revenue channel, compare it with Klaviyo and Mailchimp on segmentation, reporting and data depth. PushOwl wins on simplicity and the push channel.
