How to automate PayPal

Native integrations

PayPal is available as a payment method in many shop and form tools. For example, Outgrow lists it as a payment integration. Check your shop platform or form tool for a PayPal option before you build anything custom.

API and webhooks

PayPal has a public REST API with OAuth 2.0, a sandbox, an OpenAPI description and webhook events. It covers orders, payments, subscriptions, invoicing and disputes. A good use is a webhook that fires when a payment completes and creates the invoice in your accounting tool and the deal update in HubSpot.

MCP server

PayPal publishes an official MCP server, installed with npx as @paypal/mcp. It runs locally and needs an access token. I found no hosted remote version. Start in the sandbox environment, so an agent can create test orders and invoices without moving real money.
