Unique single-use discount codes

What it is
With unique discount codes, every person who signs up receives their own code that works once. The tool either creates codes in your shop platform as people subscribe or draws them from a list you uploaded. Compare this to a shared code such as WELCOME10, which anyone can copy, post online or reuse at will. Justuno and Privy are examples of tools that offer unique codes.
Why it matters
A single shared code tends to escape. It ends up on voucher sites, gets passed around and is used by customers who never joined your list, which wipes out the discount without growing your audience. Single-use codes tie each discount to one subscriber and make it much harder to abuse.
They are most useful for shops that offer a sign-up discount, run big promotions or want to measure how many codes actually led to a sale. If you do not discount at all, or only run occasional public sales, you do not need them.
They also depend on your shop platform being able to accept codes created automatically, so the connection matters.
What to check
- Does the tool create codes in your shop platform automatically, or only use a list you upload.
- What happens when an uploaded list runs out of codes.
- Can codes expire after a set time and be limited to certain products or a minimum order.
- Can you see how many codes were issued and how many were used.
