Chargebee vs Revolut Pro

Chargebee logovsRevolut Pro logo
Chargebee runs subscription billing logic for a company with its own payment gateways. Revolut Pro is a free business account with simple invoices for freelancers. They only overlap on sending an invoice.

The verdict

For a company with subscriptions, several plans, usage charges or quotes for larger customers, I'd pick Chargebee. Pricing logic stops fitting in a bank app very quickly. If you are a freelancer or sole trader who wants a separate account and an easy way to send a payment link, I'd pick Revolut Pro.

If you are somewhere in between, a small company with a few flat plans, neither is the obvious answer. Chargebee will be more than you need, and Revolut Pro is built for people without a registered company. Look at a simpler billing tool or a business account for companies instead.

Who each is for

Chargebee logo

Choose Chargebee if…

Pick Chargebee if you run a subscription business and finance or revenue work is starting to hurt. The signs are finance closing the books by hand, price changes that need a developer, and failed payments that quietly turn into lost customers.

It suits teams that want to keep their own payment gateways and have billing, quoting and revenue recognition handled by one vendor. Be ready for the fact that it is sold as several products, so scope and cost can grow. Start with billing and add the rest only when you feel the need. Chargebee is not a merchant of record, so tax and compliance stay with you.

Revolut Pro logo

Choose Revolut Pro if…

Pick Revolut Pro if you are a freelancer, sole trader or side-hustler and you do not want to register a company. You add it inside an app you may already use and get a separate IBAN and a card for business spend.

It gives you payment links, QR codes, invoices and in-person payments, so you can get paid quickly. The account has no subscription, but card payments carry processing fees. It is a money app, not a bookkeeping tool, so check how statements reach your accountant. If you incorporate later, expect to move to Revolut Business.
