Carrd vs WooCommerce

Carrd logovsWooCommerce logo
Carrd is a quick one-page site with no store of its own. WooCommerce is a free WordPress plugin that gives you a store you fully run. They solve very different problems.

The verdict

If you need a landing page, a waiting list or a quick offer test, pick Carrd. Nothing here needs a store, and Carrd is built for that speed.

If you sell products and WordPress is already your site, pick WooCommerce. The shop lives inside the site you have, and you control every part of it. It works best when you have a developer or a trusted agency.

If you sell products, have no WordPress and nobody to maintain a store, neither of these is the obvious answer. A hosted shop platform such as Shopify takes maintenance off you.

Because they do such different jobs, they can sit side by side. A Carrd page can run a campaign and point people to a WooCommerce shop that does the actual selling.

Who each is for

Choose Carrd if…

Pick Carrd when you want one page live now and have no products to manage. It suits founders, freelancers and small teams running a landing page, a waiting list or a link-in-bio.

You pick a template, edit the text, connect a form to your email tool and publish. The free plan allows up to three sites on a Carrd address. A paid plan adds your own domain with SSL, forms and widgets.

You will not need to look after updates, plugins or servers. That is the point.

Do not pick it as the base of a shop. One page per site and a fixed list of payment and email connections keep it small. If the test works and you want a real store, you will build that elsewhere.

Choose WooCommerce if…

Pick WooCommerce when WordPress is already your site and you want the shop inside it. It suits stores with a lot of content, businesses with unusual products and teams with a developer or agency.

The core is free and open source, with no platform fee or revenue share. You choose your own hosting, payment processor and extensions. It has a REST API and a Store API, and an official MCP integration in developer preview.

Weigh the real cost. Hosting, extensions and developer time add up, and updates, backups and security are yours to handle. Treat the MCP integration as something to try on a test store before you rely on it.
