Native integrations

Jira connects to AI coding agents such as Claude, Cursor and GitHub Copilot, and to the rest of Atlassian. One concrete idea: link GitHub pull requests to Jira issues so status updates when code is merged.

API and webhooks

Jira has a REST API (v3) and webhooks. Use them to connect Jira to your own systems. One concrete idea: send a webhook when an issue moves to Done and post a release note in Slack.

MCP server

Atlassian offers an official Rovo MCP server, generally available and cloud hosted, that covers Jira. It can search issues with JQL, create and update work items, run bulk operations and manage projects. It supports OAuth 2.1 and API tokens, and delete and admin actions are off by default. One concrete idea: ask an AI assistant to turn a meeting summary into issues with owners and links.
