How to automate Google Forms
Built-in automation
Forms sends responses to Google Sheets, and that is where most automation starts. From Sheets you can use formulas, filters and Apps Script. Apps Script can also run directly on a form, so a submission can trigger a custom email, a calendar event or a row in another sheet. Add-ons from the Workspace Marketplace extend this without code.
One idea: a form for internal requests that writes to Sheets, with a short script that emails the right person when a new row appears.
API and webhooks
There is an official Google Forms API. It can create forms, update them in batches, and read responses. It also supports watches, which push notifications about form events through Google Cloud. That is the route to take if you want an app to react the moment someone submits.
One idea: create a watch on a feedback form and push every new response into your own database or a Supabase table.
MCP server
Google Forms is not part of Google's official Workspace MCP servers. Those cover Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Chat and People, and they are in developer preview. There is no official Forms MCP server yet. The Sheets server is the closest substitute, since your responses land there.
