Fillout vs GitHub

Fillout logovsGitHub logo
Fillout builds branded forms and quizzes that feed your business tools. GitHub hosts code and runs builds and deployments. They are unrelated jobs, so pick by what you are making.

The verdict

If you collect leads, applications, feedback or registrations from people, pick Fillout. If you ship code with more than one contributor, human or agent, pick GitHub. Most teams that write code end up with GitHub regardless.

Do not use either for the other's job. GitHub has no form builder for customers, and Fillout has no place for code history. If you only need a backup of one folder, GitHub is more than you need. If you only need one simple form, Fillout is more than you need.

Who each is for

Fillout logo

Choose Fillout if…

Pick GitHub if you write code and want a reviewable history. Every change becomes a pull request with a discussion, automated checks and a deliberate merge. That matters even more when AI agents write part of the code.

It has a free plan with private repositories, an official MCP server and a public API. Actions can grow into YAML you maintain forever, so start small. Issues work, but a serious roadmap usually moves to Linear or Jira.

Choose GitHub if…

Pick Fillout if forms are where data enters your business. It gives you a drag-and-drop editor, conditional logic, branding and embeds, and PDFs from responses. Its integration page lists tools such as HubSpot, Airtable, Notion and Stripe.

It has a free plan with a real response allowance. Response limits drive cost on paid plans, and white-label options sit on higher plans, so check both first. It has an API but no MCP server.
