airSlate vs Pipedream

airSlate logovsPipedream logo
airSlate automates document workflows for operations teams. Pipedream is now a developer product for connecting users' apps to AI agents. Choose airSlate for paperwork and Pipedream only if you build agents.

The verdict

If you want to automate contracts, onboarding packs and approvals, pick airSlate. If you are a developer building an agent or app where each customer connects their own accounts, pick Pipedream Connect. Those are separate jobs.

If you wanted a visual builder to link your own tools, neither is the answer today. I would look at Zapier, Make or n8n. I would not start a new automation project on the old Pipedream Workflows product.

What the data says
  • Pipedream covers more of the features we compared: 2 of 4, against 1.
  • Only Pipedream has an MCP server, so an AI employee can work in it directly.
  • In our Automation ranking, Pipedream places 6 and airSlate 8 of 11.

Who each is for

airSlate logo

Choose airSlate if…

Pick Pipedream if you are an engineer building an agent that posts to Slack, reads Gmail and updates a CRM for each of your customers. It stores and refreshes their credentials, so you skip weeks of OAuth work.

You need engineers to use it. Production plans charge by connected users and usage credits, so model your user count first. If you have workflows on the old product, plan the move now.

Choose Pipedream if…

Pick airSlate if you are an operations, HR, legal or finance team running repeatable document processes. It needs no developer, and the vendor offers APIs for forms, document generation, workflows and e-signature if you grow into them.

Plans are by quote with unlimited users. The brand now sits under a holding company, so check that the demo covers altaFlow.
