airSlate vs n8n

airSlate logovsn8n logo
airSlate is a no-code tool for document workflows and signatures. n8n is a workflow builder with code, self-hosting and AI agents. It suits technical teams, airSlate suits operations teams with paperwork.

The verdict

If your team has no developer and the process is contracts, forms and approvals, pick airSlate. If you have technical people, high volume or data that must stay on your own servers, pick n8n. I would not ask an operations team to run n8n themselves.

For general automation between apps, n8n is the stronger of the two. For a document that has to be signed and filed, airSlate has the parts built in, and in n8n you would assemble them yourself. If you want neither extreme, look at Make or Zapier.

What the data says
  • n8n covers more of the features we compared: 5 of 5, against 2.
  • Only n8n has an MCP server, so an AI employee can work in it directly.
  • In our Automation ranking, n8n places 1 and airSlate 8 of 11.

Who each is for

airSlate logo

Choose airSlate if…

Pick airSlate if you work in operations, HR, legal or finance and your processes are repeatable and document-heavy. A person without code skills can build the flow.

It has e-signature, forms and document generation in one product family, plus developer APIs if you need them later. Pricing is by quote with unlimited users. Do the design work first, because no-code still needs clear steps, owners and exceptions.

n8n logo

Choose n8n if…

Pick n8n if you are a technical team, a developer or an agency. It lets you run parallel branches, insert code blocks and merge paths in one canvas, and you can build AI agents with human approval steps. The free Community Edition can be self-hosted, and the hosted plans are priced by executions with unlimited users.

Self-hosting needs an owner for updates, backups and security. Some smaller apps have no native node, so expect to call their API yourself. It also has a built-in MCP server.
