Free signature requests / month

The number of signature requests you can send each month on the free plan before you must upgrade to a paid one.

What it is

This figure is the monthly allowance of signature requests that an electronic signature tool gives you on its free plan. A request is usually one document sent to one or more people to sign. Once the allowance is used, you either wait for the next month or move to a paid plan.

Why it matters

For a small business that signs a few agreements a month, a free allowance can be enough and costs nothing. For a team sending contracts regularly, the cap decides how soon you need a paid plan. Allowances differ widely between tools, so the number is a quick way to compare them.

Watch what is counted. Some tools count each recipient, each reminder or each template use as a request. A free plan is also often limited in other ways, such as branding, templates or integrations.

What to check

  • What exactly counts as one request?
  • Does the limit reset on a calendar month or on the day you signed up?
  • What happens when the limit is reached: are requests blocked, or can you pay for extras?
  • Which features, such as templates, reminders or an audit trail, are missing on the free plan?
