Rabobank vs Twinfield

Rabobank logovsTwinfield logo
Rabobank is a Dutch business bank and Twinfield is cloud accounting software. They do different jobs, so the choice is which gap to close first: the account or the books.

The verdict

If you run a Dutch company and have no proper business account yet, pick Rabobank first. Your accountant and the tax authority both recognise it, and every invoice needs somewhere to land. If the account already exists and the bookkeeping is the mess, pick Twinfield, especially when your accountant already works in it. In that case the accountant is a stronger reason than any feature list.

Do not treat it as either or. Before you switch banks, check that the Rabobank connection you need is supported by your bookkeeping package. Before you commit to Twinfield, ask for current plans, because you will not find a simple public price list. I would choose the order rather than the winner: bank first for a new company, ledger first for an established one.

Who each is for

Choose Rabobank if…

Pick Rabobank if you are a Dutch company or a freelancer who wants a local bank that accountants and counterparties already know. It works well for a new business that needs a separate account before the first invoice goes out, and the ZZP account has no fixed cost for freelancers.

It also suits you if you want an adviser and a route to lending later. Allow time for onboarding, because the identity and company checks take paperwork. Skip it if you are an international business that needs fast onboarding and English-first support. And do not expect easy API access. The account and payment APIs need certificates and licensed status, so most small companies go through their bookkeeping tool instead.

Choose Twinfield if…

Pick Twinfield if your accountant or finance team already works in it, or if you want a cloud ledger with a documented API from an established vendor. It suits small and mid-sized businesses that share their books with an outside accountant and want everyone looking at the same numbers.

The product is built with a Dutch-speaking market in mind, so check that the interface, support and tax features match your situation. Skip it if you want to try a tool this week and judge it on public pricing, since you need to ask for plans and prices. Ask your accountant first. Switching accounting packages later means migrating history, so it is best done once.
