Marketo Engage vs Omnisend

MEvsOmnisend logo
Marketo Engage is Adobe's B2B marketing automation for larger teams with a CRM and an owner. Omnisend is email, SMS and push marketing for online stores, with a free plan to start.

The verdict

This one depends on what you sell, so there is no single winner.

If you are a B2B company with lead volume, a CRM such as Salesforce or Dynamics and someone who will own the platform, I'd pick Marketo Engage. It is built for scoring, routing and attribution that sales trusts.

If you run an online store of any size short of enterprise, I'd pick Omnisend. It starts free, migration is free and the flows work from day one.

A small B2B team without a CRM link or a marketing operations person should look at neither. Marketo is more platform than you need, and Omnisend is aimed at shops. HubSpot or ActiveCampaign are the lighter options.

Who each is for

ME

Choose Marketo Engage if…

Pick Marketo Engage when marketing operations is a real job in your company and the argument between marketing and sales about lead quality needs ending.

It offers custom data objects, listed with 10 objects and 2 million records, a documented REST API and an official MCP server. Adobe sells four packages, Growth, Select, Prime and Ultimate, and features such as account-based marketing and sandboxes are on some only.

Expect a sales process and a quote shaped by your database, not a self-serve sign-up. Programmes, tokens, smart campaigns and scoring models take time to set up well. Without an owner it turns into an expensive email tool.

Omnisend logo

Choose Omnisend if…

Pick Omnisend when you run an online store and want email, SMS and push in one place, with automations that work from day one.

The free plan lets you send real campaigns before you commit, and the team will move your flows, lists and templates from another platform. Support by live chat and email runs around the clock on every plan. Higher plans add product recommendations and a personalised sending time for each contact.

It is not for long B2B sales cycles or custom data models. The free tier excludes SMS, and SMS is billed per message at rates that change by country, so price your main markets first.
